Originally titled "Owning An I-Cafe", this blog used to be a business blog targeted to internet cafe owners in my country, Philippines. Now, it is a personal/mixed bag type of a blog after I seem to run out of ideas to blog about the business. It will be 3 years old come January 11, 2012 and I had just posted my 500th article in it.

For EdZee's Net Logs, I am using the free Mimbo 3 Magazine Theme since the start. I had the theme tweaked to have all the added features like footer and embedded Google Asense. I have also added plugins and widgets that could help a visitor in navigating the site.

I will welcome any comment you may have regarding my blog. You can see EdZee's Net Logs at http://xicowner.jefmart.com/

Thank you for your review in advance.

I'm probably not the right person to comment on the content, as the subject matter isn't really of interest to me I'm afraid. I can give a bit of feedback about the layout and identity of the blog though.

I think it should be easier to understand what your blog is about by looking at the homepage, as currently it's not that easy. The approach that I use at benbarden.com is to highlight some of the category names in the places where I'm highlighting content from each section of the blog.

Although you changed the name of the blog, I think you need to consider whether you need a stronger identity for the new name. There are remnants of what I assume were part of the old site that don't really fit. For instance, the "owning @ cafe" image next to the blog title, the I-Cafe 101 / ICA101 links across the top, and the About page linked from the top right corner. The writing style is a bit too "businesslike" and unwelcoming to me.

It's not clear why you have an "About" section with "About This Blog" beneath - why not merge the two?

The layout is OK. Perhaps one or two too many ads though.

On a minimalist point of view, homepage seems to be crowded. I have read a couple of the post and content is good IMO.  That's all

Thank you for the reviews. It takes a while for me to respond because I was a bit busy the past week but when I had time to go online, I slowly implemented your suggestions. May I then request you to read and look at the changes I made in my post about fixing my blog's identity.

Hi EdZee.  When I click on the seach box in Firefox or Chrome I'm sent to your Linkedin account.  Also your sidebar feels slightly cluttered with ads.

Although the content isn't really my thing, a few of your articles have grabbed my attention in the past (usually the off topic posts).

Yes, John, I had been trying to look for that bug in my Custom Google Search widget but unsuccessful so far. I will ask my sons to look at it also. Regarding the ads, I will find ways to replace them with non-ad widgets. I just can't get rid of them without anything to take their place because I wanted to have all the 3 columns in my homepage to be aligned witrh each other as much as possible.

My blog's content were originally targeted to Internet cafe (cybercafe) owners and even when I move from business category to mixed bag, I know that my topics won't be for general audience. At best, my topics should be interesting mostly to Filipinos. Thanks for liking some of my blog posts.

EdZee, it looks like there's no closing </a> on your social links.  If you add those, the custom search should work :-)

That's it, John. I owe you two already. Thanks again.
